Open Office Tricks
This page is a place for me to write down things I've learned about Open Office that took me far too long to figure out the first time. I had gone out to the OpenOffice.org site looking to see if they had a wiki, and was blown away that they didn't. (Note: Sun, please get a clue and change that fact.)
Bullet by Bullet Transitions
When you give a presentation, it is often nice to have your bullets come on screen one at a time, so your punchline isn't given away when the Title comes on screen. I've been trying to figure out this one for years, because I knew that Open Office could do it, as it would do it correctly from imported PPT files.
The Solution
After you have created text for a page:
Go to Slide Show -> Custom Animation
- Add a Custom animation type
preferably just the default Appear, all the others show you are far too amused with bad animation
In the Effect Appear box, notice the button with three little dots ..., click it
The flyover for this is ...Specify Additional Properties... in case there is other text in your view
Go to the Text Animation tab
Select the Group Text selector, and set it to by 1st level paragraph or by 2nd level paragraph
It appears to give you as many levels of options as you have in the current screen
